NZC Operational Energy Targets for Existing Buildings
Retrofitting existing buildings to meet NZC goals is a key challenge for the built environment, yet currently there is limited guidance on this for investors
It is evident that further progress needs to be made on operational energy targets for existing buildings to enable asset owners to confidently progress with retrofit schemes. The purpose of this piece is to draw attention to the importance of retrofitting our existing building stock, the requirement for different targets for existing buildings (compared with new buildings), and to suggest a reasonable way forward for developing targets for existing buildings.
