There has been a series of planning regulation reforms announced in recent months as part of the Government’s drive to ‘Build, Build, Build.’

From 1 September significant changes to the Use Classes Order and Permitted Development Rights came into effect. The government’s long awaited 'Planning for the Future' White Paper published on 6 August, has set out radical reform of the English planning system to try to “actively encourage sustainable, beautiful, safe and useful development rather than obstructing it.”

With greater flexibility for properties to be re-purposed and far reaching reform on the horizon for the English planning system, what do these changes mean for property development across the real estate sector?
