Student Housing: University Partnerships in the UK - Autumn 2016

JLL’s study on the rise of on-campus student housing partnerships is the first of its kind. Student housing partnerships between universities and private-sector operators in the UK have enabled more than 27,000 new beds to be built in the last 15 years, and a further c. 16,500 beds to be transferred from university portfolios. JLL has brokered more than a third of these deals, and valued more than two-thirds of these beds. This puts us in a unique position to take a snapshot of these partnerships, to trace the brief history of this type of deal, and to look at how trends have changed over time.
