JLL’s new research uses several case studies for office and industrial assets across the UK undergoing net zero carbon audits to better understand the decarbonisation journey for different asset types.
The findings are optimistic, showing that with net zero interventions, the transition to a low carbon economy is possible. While the age of the office building and the year of last refurbishment will play a role in total cost and level of intervention needed, an over 70% reduction in the operational energy is possible. Similarly, report shows modelled operational energy reductions of over 60% in units within industrial parks through a range of interventions.
The net zero audits were undertaken by JLL’s Net Zero Design Consulting team and provide significant insight into the potential for the UK’s existing building stock to reach operational net zero carbon.
