JLL’s award-winning global cities research throws the spotlight on the talent and innovation strengths of over 100 cities globally, including seven in the UK, and how these are increasingly competing with traditional global leaders.
Our research confirms that cities that combine strong innovation capabilities and talent concentrations have outperformed in economic terms over the last couple of decades, but more interestingly it reveals a robust link between innovation and talent-rich cities and real estate performance.
London and six other UK cities (Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester) feature in our research and perform well, with London leading the pack in terms of talent, and Edinburgh punching above its weight as a global talent hub in 15th position.
We’ve created an exclusive digital magazine which builds on our research to throw the spotlight on how the war for talent and the growing importance of the innovation economy could impact your real estate decisions. With insights into the global rankings of cities through the lens of innovation and talent, we look at the performance of UK cities in the magazine, which you can read here.
