Property Predictions: Which UK sectors will continue to offer value to investors?

Alistair Meadow, JLL’s head of UK Capital Markets, outlines the property sectors he thinks will be most attractive to investors this year.

Brexit might be dominating the headlines in the UK now, but the political uncertainty isn’t deterring international investors who are taking a longer-term view.

Overseas investors were responsible for 79 percent of deals in central London last year. Since the Brexit referendum the UK market has proved remarkably resilient, with 2017 and 2018 investment volumes surprising on the upside.  This year, JLL predicts investment volumes in UK property to total £55bn.

JLL’s 2019 Property Predictions  highlight that global allocations for real estate will continue to grow with the UK a major target for funds looking at their first wave of international acquisitions. However, the lack of supply across the market could force investors to look at alternative ways to access the market such as M&A or platform acquisitions, or routes such as debt funds.
