The Stars Group signs office pre-let at MEPC’s 4 Wellington Place Leeds
Developer and Asset Manager, MEPC, advised by JLL, has announced that The Stars Group, owner of Sky Betting & Gaming and other global betting and gaming brands, has pre-let the 134,000 sq ft of office space at 4 Wellington Place in its entirety.
Sky Betting & Gaming is one of city’s biggest employers and currently occupies office space in Number 2 and 6 Wellington Place. 4 Wellington Place is the latest phase of the highly successful 1.5m sq ft development. Building work began in October 2018 and once complete will offer 134,000 sq. ft of Grade A office, 22,000 sq ft retail and leisure space including potential for a rooftop terrace.
The Stars Group will occupy office space over seven floors. Its employees will have access to a host of exclusive building benefits including a south facing roof terrace overlooking Tower Square, basement parking and secure cycle space, plus shower and changing facilities. These come in addition to the existing community benefits of being based at Wellington Place, including access to green space, an outdoor fitness centre and a diverse programme of community events and wellbeing initiatives.
Paul Pavia, Head of Development, MEPC, said:“Sky Betting & Gaming made Wellington Place its home back in 2010, and we’re thrilled to have seen its continued success and expansion as the development has grown. It’s apt that the company’s next chapter comes at a milestone moment in time for us at Wellington Place, as we embark on the start of the next phase of the development with the imminent ground breaking of 12 Wellington Place. We’d like to thank The Stars Group and Sky Betting & Gaming for helping to make the Wellington Place community what it is and we’re looking forward to seeing them settle into their new home in two years’ time.”
Becs Cubbon, Chief People Officer at The Stars Group, commented: “When it came to sourcing an office space to bring us all under one roof, it was absolutely the right choice for us to remain at Wellington Place. With ambitious growth plans and an exciting recruitment programme, we not only needed somewhere to house all our existing teams, but somewhere to give us the space to grow. As one of the city’s biggest employers, we’re excited to continue to invest in Leeds and its workforce.”
Jeff Pearey from letting agent JLL who negotiated the deal on behalf of MEPC, concluded: “We hadn’t even started on site with building No 4, when Stars approached us about the potential to be housed in a single building at Wellington Place. As Sky Betting and Gaming have grown at Wellington Place, it was clear at some stage that they would like to consolidate into a single building. This latest pre-let now paves the way for us to progress with No 12 Wellington Place which will offer around 150,000 sq ft of first class space and actively seek occupiers for the next phase of development.”
