‘Resolute in our focus’: JLL publishes third gender pay gap report

Reaffirming ambition to achieve a better gender balance across its UK business

April 03, 2020

JLL has published its third gender pay report for its UK business. The report titled ‘Resolute in our focus’ shows that the mean gender pay gap is 21.2 percent and the median gender pay gap is 18.5 percent.

Chris Ireland, UK CEO at JLL , said: “Diversity & inclusion is a core element of our business strategy and while the general trend shows our gap is narrowing, we are not content with the pace of change. As a business, we are committed to doing more to achieve a better gender-balanced JLL.

“We know that changing some factors will take time and are the result of history, with a disproportionate number of highly paid men in our leadership. But, by addressing root-cause inequalities within our own business, we will shape a positive outcome for future years.”

The report outlines the year-on-year efforts JLL has initiated to improve the gender balance across its UK business which will help to narrow the gap in the longer term. This has included:

2017: committing to increasing the number of women within its leadership team, as set out publicly within JLL’s Building a Better Tomorrow sustainability commitments. Since then, the number of women on its UK Board has more than doubled and the current figure stands at 33 percent.

2018: modernising JLL’s culture to focus on results rather than time in the office; offering a greater diversity of client entertainment events; and introducing a parental transition programme to facilitate working parents returning to work.

2019: successful introduction of a sponsorship programme for a cohort of JLL’s talented women to aid them in their career development and progression.
