JLL's acquisition of 378,000 sq ft on behalf of HMRC, NHS Digital and the Government Property Agency (GPA) took the deal of the year award at Yorkshire Business Insider's Property Industry Awards, held last night at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

JLL's acquisition of 378,000 sq ft at MEPC's Wellington Place was the largest office deal outside London in 2017 and biggest office letting ever seen in Leeds. The project will see the construction of buildings 7 & 8 which will become the Government's new hub in Yorkshire, and is expected to be the base for over 6,000 civil servants. The judges remarked that the deal was 'hugely significant for the city.'

Jeff Pearey, head of JLL's Yorkshire and North East region,  who accepted the award on the evening, said: "Our involvement in this record breaking property transaction was the culmination of 18 months of focused work to ensure the best outcome for our client.

"We undertook an extensive search process for the client with the shortlist refined through a series of RFP's focusing on access to public transport, deliverability, value for money and the ultimate building solution.   Its pleasing to see this, a strategic project, that will help transform how UK Government serves public needs through its regional hubs, recognized at this year's awards and it's also a reflection of a great team effort both locally and across the UK business."
