JLL's Planning Development & Heritage team have helped secure planning approval on behalf of Metropolitan for the development of more than 2,500 new homes and a wide range of community facilities at Clapham Park in south London.
Lambeth Council's Planning Committee voted unanimously to grant the planning approval for the new development, which is an important step forward in Metropolitan's £1.6bn regeneration of Clapham Park. On completion, the regeneration will encompass more than 4,000 homes, with 53% of them affordable. A new central park and community hub with shops and community facilities will also be part of the site.
Mark Connell, director, JLL Planning Development & Heritage, said: "Submitted as a full detailed application, the design looks at the issues that matter to residents and has been rigorously tested to ensure deliverability and usability. We are delighted to have been granted planning approval on behalf of our client and commend Metropolitan and PRP for marrying intensive community involvement with outstanding architecture. The new masterplan puts residents first and is the product of extensive consultation with Lambeth Council and the Greater London Authority."
Geeta Nanda, Chief Executive of Metropolitan, said: "The planning committee approval is very positive news for the residents and our partners in this long-term project. We all want Clapham Park to be a revitalised, thriving and affordable area that local people will feel proud to call home. We now have approval for our new development proposal which I believe will enable us to achieve that."
Planning approval is subject to GLA Stage 2 referral and a Section 106 Agreement. Construction on site is expected to start towards the end of 2018.
