JLL appoints head of net zero design consulting team

David Bownass joins JLL’s Project & Development Services group to support the delivery of clients’ net zero carbon goals

January 13, 2021

JLL has recruited David Bownass to lead its new national net zero design consulting team.  The newly formed team will be embedded as part of JLL’s Project and Cost Management function so that design advice can be rapidly translated into delivery and linked to sound investment advice.

David has joined JLL from WSP UK where he spent 21 years and led on delivering net zero carbon advice to clients. He has worked with across both the public and private sector to ensure that sustainability is embedded into developments. His key MEP projects have included Liverpool One, Kings College Hospital and Birmingham’s Bullring.

At JLL he will provide the sustainable engineering expertise required to help clients reach their net zero carbon goals, either for a building retrofit; or for new developments. His team’s services will include robust net zero building thermal modelling, operational and embodied carbon analysis and engineering advice. JLL will be able to offer strategic building advice and development feasibility studies, energy strategies and carbon analysis for planning, and continued support on projects through to post construction monitoring and verification of performance. The team will help to deliver buildings which are net zero carbon both in construction and operation.

David Bownass, head of net zero design consulting at JLL, said: “I’m delighted to have joined JLL to set up and manage the new net zero design consulting team focused on the retrofit market. There are certainly exciting times ahead for both the team and the wider real estate market as the transition to a net zero carbon-built environment continues at pace.”
