Knowledge Economies on the Global Stage

Innovation is vital for economic growth and real estate demand. The private and public sectors must adapt to demographic shifts, changing property requirements, and new technologies. Occupiers and investors need to diversify their portfolios to accommodate skilled talent and innovation-driven growth. Co-locating institutions, corporates, talent, and infrastructure is key, with a focus on submarket and micromarket performance. Understanding pricing sensitivities is crucial for tenants and owners to maximize returns. Public authorities, corporate occupiers, and real estate investors should collaborate for integrated, sustainable approaches to innovation-led regeneration.

Raising capital in UK biotech

Availability and access to capital is fundamental to the creation and growth of the UK Biotech industry. The UK listed markets continue to challenge the supremacy of the Nasdaq in the US, with the announcement of the Mansion House Compact setting a course for the UK to unlock significant capital directly from listed equity funds to benefit the growth of innovative companies. Against this backdrop of the financial markets in the private and public sector, this panel will focus on the immediate outlook for raising capital for the UK, identifying challenges and opportunities companies are facing to facilitate growth.

Policy to Execution…Partnerships and Collaboration

Partnerships between the public and private sector are fundamental to unlocking the full potential of the life sciences sector. A successful partnership can be measured across economic, financial and social objectives, but how does the weighting of this criteria shift in the eyes of the beholder? This session will explore how partnership can come in many forms, be that directly with central government or local authorities, academic and research institutions partnering with the private sector to enable efficacy in their operational estate, or operators of space partnering with big pharma and start-up businesses to enable scientific breakthroughs.
