Challenge: LaSalle Investment Management faced the challenge of developing a robust and consistent net zero carbon (NZC) audit strategy and technical brief for their portfolio in the EMEA region. The portfolio consisted of various asset types, including student accommodation, multi-family, commercial, and retail properties.

Solution: To address this challenge, JLL partnered closely with LaSalle. We conducted extensive consultations with the client to understand their objectives for the NZC audits and transition. Based on this collaboration, a comprehensive audit strategy was developed, which involved assessing the asset portfolio and creating suitable clusters for assessment purposes. In addition, a detailed technical brief for NZC audits of the assets was developed, and we facilitated consultations with other framework consultants to ensure consistency and robustness of the assessments.
As part of a panel of external consultants, JLL is responsible for undertaking the NZC audits and providing general technical support to the client in implementing the NZC audit programme. The results of these audits will inform LaSalle about the necessary building interventions, associated costs, and implementation practicalities required to achieve NZC.
