Much has changed at Emanuel School since the stand-alone Dacre building, housing only classrooms, opened in 1970. Having become independent – and with many more pupils – the school competes to attract students. Hence, the no-longer-fit-for-purpose Dacre block has been demolished and replaced with a 3-story block housing music and art rooms, exhibition space and a film studio – as well as classrooms – all linked to existing buildings.
