Almost 70 of Scotland’s leading real estate decision makers attended JLL's recent Scottish property research seminar, held in Edinburgh on Wednesday 4 November.Introduced by Scottish directors, Cameron Stott and Mike Buchan, the event featured presentations from Jon Neale, Head of Research UK and Karen Williamson, Associate Director of EMEA Research.
Cameron and Mike gave a summary of the Edinburgh and Glasgow markets during 2015 and looked at prospects for 2016.Jon took the audience through a global economic overview and highlighted Scotland’s place within this hierarchy. Touching upon the dominance of the energy and financial services sector within the Scottish economy, he looked at the future prospects of the business services, creative and digital sectors in both the Glasgow and Edinburgh occupier markets.Karen gave a fascinating presentation on real estate priorities and the factors driving occupier needs. This included recent trends towards a much more people-centric approach to buildings and design and she examined the impact of technology, workplace, sustainability and talent.
