Data Centres Barometer Autumn 2010 - Issue 5

More cautious, but still an essentially optimistic outlook for 2011 - 79% of occupiers reported that they had not altered their existing outsourced data centre holdings over the previous 6 months. However, looking forwards, 50% stated that they would expect to expand their internal technical floorspace over the next 12 months. Virtualisation has not yet made a significant impact of data centre strategies, although there is a strong shift of opinion towards sourcing at least some of the data centre power from renewable sources. Corporate Expansion (or contraction) is consistently given as the most likely reason for changing in-house data centre holdings.
