Jones Lang LaSalle comment on Government’s property savings

Commenting on Cabinet Officer minister, Francis Maude’s announcement that there has been a £130 million reduction in the ongoing cost of the Government’s property estate by exerting better control over lease renewals and the Government’s property estate has been reduced by a further 416,597sqm – equivalent to 58 Wembley Stadium pitches.
Paul Spencer, head of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Government and Infrastructure team, said; “The savings show the National Property Controls are working. The best future progress will be achieved by ensuring that the use and occupation of property helps drive the transformation of the civil service as a whole, as it has done for major corporates grappling with the current economic environment. Clarity of direction, and the positioning and professionalism of property expertise in government will therefore be critical.”
