Steel Stock Holder Purchases 41,000 sq ft industrial unit in Winchester

Southampton, 3rd February 2012 – On behalf of Legal & General Property, Jones Lang LaSalle’s Southampton office has sold Unit 30 Moorside Road, Winchester, Hampshire to Barclay & Mathieson Limited.  Barclay & Mathieson was represented by the Edward Symmons’ Leeds office and will be using the premises for its steel stock holding business.

The industrial unit comprised 41,000 sq ft on a 2 acre site and benefitted from travelling gantry cranes in each bay. The building has now gone full circle as it was originally constructed for former Winchester based steel manufacturer Condor.

Barclay & Mathieson Group operates out of 13 locations around the country from Inverness to Peterborough and across to Bangor.  It is part of the larger Stemcor Group of companies which has a group turnover in excess of $5 billion.
Rob Kyle, Director at Barclay & Mathieson Limited said: “This property purchase is a integral part of our strategy to extend our service offer nationally”
Matthew Poplett, Director in Jones Lang LaSalle’s Industrial & Logistics Agency in Southampton, said: “This unit is ideally situated on Junction 9 of the M3 providing access to London and the M25 or at the bottom of the A34 which provides access to the eA34 to the south-west or north to the M4 or The Midlands via the M40.  The unit benefited from travelling gantry cranes in each bay plus an extensive external area making it ideal for this type of operation.”

Jones Lang LaSalle was appointed jointly with Hughes Ellard to market the property.
