Squadron Medical move into Markham Vale

Nottingham, 8th May 2012 - Construction of a 42,000 sq ft design and build facility has completed at Henry Boot Development’s Markham Vale scheme in Chesterfield for local company Squadron Medical. The new facility will be the medical supplies distributor’s national distribution centre and headquarters, and is the largest bespoke unit to be built at Markham Vale to date.

Squadron Medical operated from three smaller units in Staveley and Chesterfield but soon realised their need for expansion space so took advantage of Henry Boot Developments “Try Before You Buy Scheme” allowing them to have a short term lease at Markham Vale’s Waterloo Court scheme whilst their new facility was being built.

The bespoke facility, which includes 9,000 sq ft of offices, has taken just 26 weeks to build and features a full height glazed reception area. Squadron Medical also has an expansion land option on the adjacent site.

Ben Young of Henry Boots Developments said: “This is another great success story for Markham Vale and Squadron Medical’s presence on the site will be a real credit to the scheme.  The building achieved an EPC rating B and linked with the ‘Very Good’ BREEAM accreditation is a very efficient building.”

James Keeton from the Nottingham office of Jones Lang LaSalle who acts on behalf of Henry Boot Developments added: “It is great news that we have completed another ‘design and build’ for an occupier at Markham Vale within a short delivery timeframe.  We are already on site with another, larger prelet and there is good occupier interest for further buildings on the same basis.”

Markham Vale is a 200 acre business park located directly adjacent to junction 29A of the M1 Motorway.  It is being developed by Sheffield based Henry Boot Developments in partnership with Derbyshire County Council and is targeted at attracting a range of new sustainable employment opportunities to the area.

James Keeton added: “Markham Vale is unrivalled in terms of profile and accessibility from the M1 and combined with fast delivery times this is generating strong interest in the scheme.
