Bluewater Bags Kipling

London, 2 October 2013 - Lend Lease has today announced that Kipling, the premium luggage brand owned by VF Corporation, is to open a 1,750 sq ft store at Bluewater, Europe’s leading retail, leisure and events destination.

Kipling StoreKipling joins Hugo Boss, Montblanc and Omega in extending Bluewater’s aspirational mix onto the upper Rose Gallery.  The new store will open late October.

Bluewater’s Kipling store will stock the brand’s full range of handbags, luggage and carry-ons, including the exclusive range designed by supermodel and photographer, Helena Christensen.  Kipling was founded in Antwerp in 1987 and is named after Rudyard Kipling.  Over 35 million women in more than 65 countries own Kipling bags, and the brand has worked with a number of young designers to create capsule ranges, including Peter Pilotto for the UK.

Commenting on the news, Guy Thomas, Head of Retail Leasing at Lend Lease, said: “Kipling is a great addition to Bluewater’s line-up of international brands, and reflective of the sustained demand from premium retailers for space at Bluewater.  Consequently, our aspirational offer has extended from the Guildhall into the upper Rose Gallery, which is already home to Hugo Boss, Omega and the only standalone Montblanc boutique in the South East.”

Robert Darwen, Director in Retail Agency at Jones Lang LaSalle, said: “Bluewater provides the platform for the strategic acquisition program across the South East, with a number of further openings planned towards the end of the year and into 2014.”

Kipling is also the fourth VF brand to open at Bluewater, adding to Timberland, Vans and North Face in creating regional flagships to serve the South East.

Adding to Bluewater’s long list of international and premium brands, Kipling joins recently announced Victoria’s Secret, Reebok, Jack Wills, Cadenza and
Lola and Grace.  Kipling takes the total number of new brands to commit to Bluewater this year to 26 which, combined with the 21 brands that have invested in new store designs, equates to almost 170,000 sq ft of new or enhanced space in time for Christmas this year.

CBRE and DTZ represented Bluewater. Jones Lang LaSalle acted for Kipling.
