Freshney Place, Grimsby wins the British Chamber marketing campaign National Winner award 2012

Thanks to Jones Lang LaSalle’s marketing and shopping centre management teams

London, 11th December, 2012 - Grimsby town shopping centre, Freshney Place beat off stiff competition to win Marketing Campaign of the Year, for its Dress For Success initiative at the national final of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) Awards 2012, held at London's Guildhall on the 29th November.

Working in conjunction with Grimsby based Women's Aid charity, the Dress For Success campaign was a fundraiser that invited women to swap their unwanted work wear for a 10 per cent off voucher to spend at some of the shopping centre's best fashion retailers. As a result, the campaign which attracted more than 800 people saw over 2,000 items of clothing donated to the charity.

Jones Lang LaSalle’s Kaye Walker,  Marketing Director for managing agent, Jones Lang LaSalle said: “Freshney Place won the regional marketing award a couple of weeks ago, but to win the national really is the icing on the cake. The Chambers Awards acknowledges the role of business as a constructive force for the UK recovery and the success of local communities and individuals and this campaign did just that, contributing to a 3.35 per cent increase in footfall at a time when national retail figures were somewhat depressed.”

Freshney Place's shopping centre director, Amanda Austin said: "All the staff involved in the Dress For Success campaign are thrilled to have won this prestigious award of Best Marketing Campaign.  Dress for Success was designed not only to generate positive news coverage, but also to encourage customers into the centre to donate clothes, driving footfall. The campaign gained national coverage promoting both Freshney Place and Grimsby."

Freshney Place Shopping Centre is situated in the heart of Grimsby.  With over 100 stores and a highly successful indoor market, the centre provides a great range of individual retailers and major stores as well as a selection of coffee shops and restaurants. It is also serviced by two multi-storey secure car parks offering over 1000 parking spaces.

This award rounds off a successful year for the Centre and the Jones Lang LaSalle's Shopping Centre Marketing team,  who successfully Won a Purple Apple Merit Award this year for Community Relations and were shortlisted in the Northern CIPR awards.
