Jones Lang LaSalle delivers new Preston depot for Parcelforce

Property consultant secures 96,950 sq ft at Walton Summit as Royal Mail subsidiary continues expansion

Preston, 4 December 2012 – Jones Lang LaSalle has completed a 96,950 sq ft letting at Walton Summit in Preston for Royal Mail subsidiary Parcelforce Worldwide.

The deal, agreed with landlord Freshwater Property Management, will see Parcelforce relocate from its existing Preston depot to the South Ribble site, which is located close to the M61, M65 and M6 motorways.

It is the latest in a series of deals which Jones Lang LaSalle has acted on for the express delivery business, following the announcement of its plans to invest £75 million in expanding its UK depot network.

Earlier in the year, the firm’s industrial and logistics team purchased 15-acres at Revolution Park in Chorley where Parcelforce plans to create a new 120,000 sq ft regional distribution hub and last month it completed a 72,000 sq ft deal to relocate Parcelforce’s Liverpool depot.

Daniel Burn, director at Jones Lang LaSalle industrial and logistics in Manchester, said: “While there are big challenges facing traditional retailers, strong growth in e-commerce is continuing to drive demand for strategically located distribution space.

“This is the fourth deal we’ve completed for Parcelforce in recent months and we’re continuing to support the business’ expansion plans in the North West.”

Jones Lang LaSalle also advised landlord Freshwater Property Management alongside joint agents Bailey Deakin and Hamiltons.
