Strathaven Golf Club sells 1.92 acre site for new homes

GLASGOW, August 16, 2017 – New homes are to be built on the edge of Strathaven Golf Club in South Lanarkshire after a portion of land next to the first hole has been put up for sale.

The Club took the decision to sell the land at the site on Glasgow Road in Strathaven to help fund the relocation and modernisation of its current green keeper's accommodation.

Located on the south-eastern corner of the course overlooking the first fairway, the 1.92 acre site has been earmarked for housing within the South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan.

Ross Woods Architects has already entered into discussions with the local council regarding the principle of a residential development including around 19 new apartments.

JLL is managing the sale on behalf of the Club.

A small practice green will be relocated to accommodate the development.

Interested parties are encouraged to contact South Lanarkshire Council's Planning department to discuss any development proposals.

Located 25 miles south east of Glasgow, the market town of Strathaven is a sought after commuter town with excellent road and rail connectivity to the central belt and beyond.

Nina Stobie, Director at JLL said: "Strathaven has a thriving local community which will benefit from any additional development ensuing from the sale of land at the golf club. The opportunity to develop new housing on this prime Greenfield site is likely to attract significant interest, and we look forward to engaging with the council, developers and the local community as we progress with the sale."
