PropSKI 2013 is a Snow Storming Success

PropSKI 2013

London, 6th February 2013
–During the week of the 5th -12th of January this year, over 100 of the UK's top young surveyors from over 40 different companies joined together for a week of Sun, Skiing, networking and entertainment in the French Alpine resort of Val Thorens for "PropSKI 2013", the property industry's inaugural networking event.

The PropSKI Committee, a group of young surveyors spearheaded by Will Chambers from Jones Lang LaSalle with a committee consisting of Chris Walters (Jones Lang LaSalle), David Corridan (REVCAP), Luke Appleby (CBRE), Rupert Parker (GVA) and Lauren Blackwell, have been working together since March 2012 to organise and promote the event and newly formed organisation among their peers in the UK.

he event is geared towards providing a fresh new look at building relationships within the industry, from the outset of young surveyors' careers within an informal setting. The week consisted of an extensive itinerary of events, including the Macdonald & Company Race Day, with timed and individual slaloms, the Promap Mountain Challenge, an orienteering exercise and valley treasure hunt, a mountain meal and welcome drinks party sponsored by Promap.

William Chambers, Senior Development Consultant Jones Lang LaSalle commented: "Following the huge success and take up of this first trip we are looking forward to growing year on year on what we hope to become a permanent fixture in the property calendar. I can’t thank enough the support from sponsors and the participation of the attendees which made it an outright success and thoroughly enjoyable event which has built industry relationships for the future. Bring on PropSKI 2014."

Notes to editors:

- The Macdonald and company Race day event saw 60 entrants in the timed individual slalom in the morning, followed by team dual slalom in the afternoon which provided a great spectacle as participants raced head to head in four person teams, all competing for over £2,000 worth of Salomon skis and snowboards, as well as the now prestigious PropSKI silverware.
- The Promap challenge was an orienteering exercise and treasure hunt around the Valley with the aid of a map compass and a set of clues and riddles. Teams of no less than 4 had to navigate their way to 3 stations across the valley to participate in 3 challenges at each station. Teams had to perform various tasks including protecting an un-boiled egg and finding a hidden garden gnome. All in all it was an extremely humorous and enjoyable day. The winners of the Promap Challenge bagged themselves some Zaini Hats, Willyfinder onesies and a free place on PropSKI 2014.
