JLL advises Storage Giant on the acquisition of DHD Self Storage in Bicester


​​JLL's Alternatives team has advised Storage Giant on the acquisition of a freehold self storage unit near Bicester Village.  The facility was acquired for around £3m representing a multiple of just over 12 x on EBITDA.   The store is two miles from Bicester Village and has a large number of customers from the nearby designer outlet.

 Storage Giant, which is owned by entrepreneur Simon Williams, has expanded from five stores to nine stores in the last 12 months with the acquisition of Space Place in Leicester and Telford, as well as a new store due to open shortly in Bristol.

 Tom Caines, Senior Surveyor in JLL's Alternatives team, commented: "This is a great example of the growing strength of the mid-sized self storage operators, who are acquiring individual stores in order to expand their portfolios and gain a competitive foothold. The opportunity fitted really well with Simon's strategy and ambition to expand his business.  This deal demonstrates JLL's strength in the self storage market, where we are able to help our clients successfully invest and grow their portfolios."

 Simon William, CEO of Storage Giant Limited, said "This addition to our portfolio made good commercial sense, and we were able to successfully close the deal in a matter of weeks.  We continue to look for opportunities for both acquisition of existing stores as well as new developments. We are on track to have 15 stores by the end of 2017 and will likely reach more than 20 stores by 2019."
