JLL announced as MIF17 sponsor

Manchester, 10 March 2017 - As the full programme is revealed, Manchester International Festival (MIF17) has announced a roll call of 139 sponsors already signed up to support the 2017 event, including JLL.

This year the festival (which runs from 29 June to 16 July 2017) kicks off with spectacular opening event outside JLL's offices at Piccadilly Gardens. Entitled "What Is the City but the People", it will be a unique portrait of the people of Manchester. It will see residents parading on a specially designed walkway across Piccadilly Gardens to musical accompaniment, capturing the city through its outfits and attitudes.

David Lathwood, lead director for JLL in the North West, said: "The festival is gaining momentum and has been a great addition to the cultural scene and economy of Manchester. It brings an exciting vibe to the city every two years and we are delighted to be associated with it."

John McGrath, the festival's new artistic director added: 'We are incredibly grateful to every one of our funders and sponsors – their support of MIF allows work of the most ambitious and exciting scale to be made right here in Manchester, work which we can then export to festivals, theatres and arts centres around the world."

Established in 2005 and staged every two years, MIF is the world's first festival of original, new work and special events. It brings together artists from different art forms and backgrounds to create dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking new work, which is staged in a rich tapestry of venues across Greater Manchester – from theatres, galleries and concert halls to railway depots, churches and car parks.
