JLL UK CEO shares value-generating approach to sustainability in London

London, 21 October, 2016 - Chris Ireland, JLL UK Chief Executive Officer shared insight on speaking the language of the C-Suite in an organisation and quantifying environmental and social impact of sustainability programmes in financial terms, at the 10th annual CR Reporting & Communications Summit, at the Ethical Corporation Conference this week.

Talking to 200 sustainability professionals, Ireland focused on how to link sustainability to business performance and how to gain C-Level buy in as well as how to best obtain the tangible and intangible benefits for this work.

“JLL is already seeing the tangible impact of its sustainability programme on its business performance in terms of increased revenue opportunities and positive client feedback. Equally important for me is the intangible impact generated in terms of uplifting brand awareness, increasing employee engagement and fostering business innovation” said, Ireland.

As part of his presentation, Ireland discussed JLL’s sustainability leadership initiative known as Building for a Better Tomorrow and shared details about its key motivations, and early successes. Through Building a Better Tomorrow, JLL aims to achieve its vision of becoming the most sustainable real estate services firm globally, realising its significant opportunity to improve buildings and cities where people thrive. Ireland said: “JLL is committed to embedding sustainability in everything it does as a business. It’s an aspirational goal and JLL is fully committed to it. JLL is sustaining its business over the long term by successfully managing its financial, environmental, and social risks and opportunities, and helping its clients do the same.”
