Intrepid property pair to take on gruelling Marathon des Sables ultra-marathon challenge

Adam Cosgrove, Jones Lang LaSalle and Rob Codling, Legal & General

London, 6th March 2013
– Jones Lang LaSalle’s Adam Cosgrove and Rob Codling from Legal and General are participating together for charity in the gruelling Marathon des Sables from 7thuntil13th April 2013.  Also known as the MdS, the race was started in 1986 by Patrick Bauer and is now in its 28th consecutive year.  The MdS is open to individuals and teams of individuals, amateur and elite runners.   Renowned as ‘The Hardest Footrace on Earth’, the ultra-marathon is a 156-mile multi-stage, self-sufficient race through the Sahara desert carrying all the kit and food necessary to make it through the seven-day race.  The longest single day is 52 miles.

Commenting on his upcoming feat, Adam Cosgrove, Senior Surveyor in Jones Lang LaSalle’s West End Agency team, said: “ The training has been tough and very time consuming so we are all looking forward to getting out to the desert and getting started – it will be a real test of mental as well as physical endurance.”

Rob Codling, formerly of Jones Lang LaSalle and now Senior Asset Manager at  Legal and General, added: “Whilst we have run what seems like dozens of marathons in training, we have no idea how our bodies are going to cope in 50 degree heat, running over sand day after day, whilst living on a diet of freeze dried food.  It’s going to be quite a challenge!”

Andrew Hynard, Deputy UK Chairman, Jones Lang LaSalle, concluded: “With runners coming from all over the world, the MdS is a truly international event that has a positive impact on the local environment and in local communities. All the best to Adam and Rob in undertaking this amazing challenge, and in their fundraising efforts.”
