Bristol team wins project management contract for major residential scheme at Finzels Reach

One of the first PRS schemes to be built out in Bristol


​Bristol, 1 August 2016 – The project management team at property consultancy JLL in Bristol has been instructed on a major new residential scheme at Finzels Reach.

The project is one of the first schemes within the private rented sector (PRS) to be built out in Bristol. The PRS or ‘build to rent’ sector – where investors buy up properties for the purposes of buy-to-let, benefitting from both rises in the value and in rent – has grown substantially in the UK in recent years.

The scheme is part of the highly acclaimed Finzels Reach mixed-use waterside development in Bristol, which is being built on the site of the former Courage Brewery site. It comprises 194 residential units in a mix of studio, one and two-beds, together with ground floor retail space all of which is being built over an underground car park. The works are due to commence on site later this year and are scheduled for completion in quarter three 2018.

The current scheme is one of many phases on the former brewery site, some of which have already been completed, whilst others, including a new pedestrian link bridge over the floating harbour into the city centre, a hotel and offices, are under construction.

Richard Thomas, director in JLL’s project management team in Bristol, said: “Finzels Reach, one of Bristol’s most significant developments, is giving a new lease of life to this former brewery site, which sits right in the heart of the city. It is great to be involved in this new phase of the project, which, when complete, will provide high quality rental homes just moments away from the city’s vibrant business, cultural and leisure hub.”

The developer for the overall Finzels Reach development is Cubex.
