Hat trick of deals for JLL in Gloucestershire as demand for industrial space grows in face of stark lack of supply


GLOUCESTERSHIRE, 21 March 2016 – Leading property consultancy JLL has secured a hat trick of deals in Gloucestershire totalling more than 140,000 sq ft, illustrating the growing demand for industrial space in the region where there is an acute lack of supply.

Of the three deals, SHB Hire has secured the largest amount of space at 76,166 sq ft as part of its ongoing expansion. The company purchased 38 Ashville Road in Gloucester from the CO-OP Group.

Meanwhile, lettings have been agreed at Unit 1 Brunel Centre (32,458 sq ft) in Stonehouse to Customade Group and Unit D Quedgeley West Business Park in Gloucester to Window Widgets (30,546 sq ft).

John Lightowlers, group managing director of Customade Group, said: "We are seeing strong growth and the Brunel Centre is perfect for expanding our manufacturing business. This acquisition requirement has been due to the success of the REAL range of domestic aluminium doors and windows launched in 2015. (www.real-aluminium.co.uk)."

Giles Weir, director for UK industrial and logistics at JLL, who brokered the three deals, said: "We are seeing strong demand throughout the South West with occupiers becoming increasingly proactive at seeking out new opportunities. Both the units at Quedgeley and Stonehouse are good quality modern properties and were quickly snapped up by manufacturers needing extra space.

"Even at Ashville Road, where the space was less modern, SHB saw the opportunity to expand and took it. Occupiers are reinvesting more and more in their property functions as the future outlook suggests than opportunities will be harder to come by."
