Cooks Wood Quarry in Holcombe offered for sale

JLL and Cooper and Tanner appointed to market the site

A disused quarry in Leigh upon Mendip, Somerset, could be transformed into a new holiday destination following the appointment of JLL Hotels and Hospitality Group and Cooper and Tanner to sell the site.

Cooks Wood Quarry is an 84.5 acre former limestone quarry situated in the Mendip Hills, one of Somerset’s most picturesque settings.

Cooks Wood QuarryPlanning has been granted for the development of 143 high quality timber lodges providing self-catering accommodation, together with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. The site also has planning for a swimming pool and spa, family restaurant, nature study centre, recreational lake, including a sand beach, along with sport facilities and play areas.

John Kinsey, director at JLL, said “With its striking scenery, we have no doubt that this rare development opportunity will be of huge interest to the market. This is a wonderful opportunity to create a holiday retreat which has been carefully and sympathetically designed to fit with its sensitive surroundings, while providing a secluded retreat and wide selection of on-site recreational activities.”

The property is available freehold in its entirety with the benefit of planning.
