JLL Strengthens Valuation Team with New Recruit


Edinburgh, 14 January 2016 – Leading property consultancy JLL has appointed Alasdair Barrie as associate director within its Valuation team in Edinburgh.

With 8 years' industry experience principally in loan security and portfolio valuations, Alasdair is the latest addition to JLL's Valuation Team, which is led by director Eric Stevens, who recently joined from Bilfinger GVA.

Alasdair's association with JLL began during his time at Heriot-Watt University in 2007, where he graduated with first-class honours after receiving JLL mentorship from lead director for Scotland Alasdair Humphery.

Following his studies, Alasdair joined property firm CBRE on a graduate scheme in their Glasgow organisation where he trained in property and asset management, valuation and lease consultancy.

In 2009 Alasdair become a Chartered Surveyor, relocating to Edinburgh as a valuation consultant with a UK property firm in 2011.

Alasdair's portfolio includes valuation work across a range of sectors including office, industrial, high street retail, student housing and development sites. With strong experience working closely with the Scottish market's leading lenders and a variety of investors, developers and local authorities, Alasdair has an extensive knowledge of Scotland's valuation landscape.

JLL's Scottish valuation team provides consultancy and valuation services to a range of clients on commercial assets in Scotland, as well as residential development opportunities. The Scottish department is regularly involved in specialised asset management and valuation projects involving hotels, student accommodation and retail units, and also works closely with JLL's valuation teams in London.

Following the successful development of its operation in Glasgow, JLL's Edinburgh Valuation team recently recruited Eric Stevens as director in November 2015, before adding further depth with this latest appointment.

JLL now employs over 120 staff across Scotland, acting on some of the largest and most prestigious projects in the country and advising developers, investors and occupiers in all major property markets.
