Riverside opportunity for developers

Renfrew site has consent for 152 residential units

GLASGOW, 08 December 2015 – Residential developers have the chance to acquire a site in the heart of an up-and-coming community in Renfrew.

The 3.34 acre site is within Braehead's Ferry Village, which has undergone extensive expansion over the past few years. The site comes with planning consent for 152 residential units.

Major developers including Barratt Homes, Bellway Homes, Springfield Homes, Miller Homes, Taylor Wimpey and McCarthy & Stone have been active in the area in recent years.

The site off Kings Inch Road – which is being brought to market by JLL - benefits from close proximity to the Intu Braehead shopping centre and leisure venue Soar.

Nina Stobie, associate director, JLL, said: "This is an excellent opportunity to acquire land in a riverside location that is continuing to grow in popularity with young professionals and families.

"We expect interest to be high and the location will be further enhanced once the Renfrew Ferry Yoker Bridge is complete, giving Ferry Village a direct connection to the west end of Glasgow."

The opportunity is split into two sites – the first of which extends to 2.59 acres with consent for 120 units and the other which is 0.75 acres with consent for 32 units. The sites are available for sale as a whole or in two parts.

Ferry Village benefits from extensive transport links and is served by two junctions of the M8 motorway, which connects the area to Glasgow city centre and further afield. Glasgow Airport is just four miles away, while the area is also well served by a regular bus service.

Intu Braehead boasts over 1 million sq. ft. of retail, restaurant and leisure space, with the adjacent retail park offering further choice. A planning application has been submitted for a £200m mixed use development.

Soar – located between Ferry Village and Intu Braehead – is home to the UK's biggest real indoor snow slope and also boasts rock climbing, bowling and a 12-screen Odeon cinema.
