Food’s in fashion with JLL’s mouth-watering MAPIC catwalk finale

You are what you eat: JLL hosts show with a difference


Cannes, 20th November 2015- Last night JLL celebrated the evolution of the foodservice industry... on the catwalk.

The exclusive food fashion show was unlike any other MAPIC client party, showcasing clothes with a gastronomical twist. Nine models wearing the likes of pasta kilts, knife-and-fork dresses and a cupcake skirts, strutted their stuff down the catwalk to demonstrate how food is no longer just fuel – it’s fashion.

The show was designed to celebrate the growing importance of food and beverage (F&B) to the retail and leisure market and to highlight exclusively to JLL’s clients the opportunities the sector can offer to investors and retailers. JLL also revealed that F&B operators have doubled the amount of floorspace they have taken in shopping centres in Europe over the last decade.

JLL Retail Europe are the retail sector’s leading experts on food services. The fashion show was compered by Jonathan Doughty, head of JLL’s EMEA Foodservice consulting team. He said: “Consumers’ expectations of food and experiences have dramatically increased, and they are now seeking culinary adventure from restaurants. Now dinner is the show, and that’s what we wanted to convey at our event.”

Robert Bonwell, JLL EMEA Retail CEO, added: “This wasn’t just a party; this was a taste of what may come in the world of fashion and food. F&B will play a significant role in the retail world, especially in shopping centres, and it’s important that we make our clients aware of the opportunities it presents. This was a fun, fashionable and cutting edge way to do this that will certainly stick in people’s minds.”
