Leeds Dealmaker of the year award for JLL’s Richard Thornton

LEEDS, 16 November 2016 - Beating off strong competition in the Leeds agency market, Richard Thornton has been awarded Costar’s 2015 Dealmaker of the Year for his work on a string of ‘high quality deals’ which includes one of the largest lettings this year, the prelet to PWC at Central Square as well as deals at No 1 Whitehall Riverside in Leeds city centre.

According to CoStar’s latest league tables, the Office Agency team was also ranked the most active in Leeds city centre. From July 2014 – June 2015, they handled nearly 700,000 sq ft of instructions and leased almost 270,000 sq ft of space.

Jeff Pearey, Lead Director – North East at JLL, said: “In a competitive occupational market it’s a notable achievement to maintain our market leading position. Congratulations to Richard in particular on his dealmaker of the year award which was voted for by his industry peers.

“During the judging period, the team has been involved in all four significant pre-lets in Leeds city centre – the only agents to achieve this accolade.  It’s been another strong year for the team and we are rightly proud our hard work has helped us achieve a premier position yet again.

Leeds office market has performed strongly in the third quarter of the year with the latest figures showing that occupier take-up reached 112,103 sq ft in Leeds city centre over 36 deals. Q3 activity in the out-of-town market reached 72,314 sq ft over 21 deals compared with just 35,305 sq ft over the same period last year.

Year to date city centre take-up stands at 412,918 sq ft while 169,551 sq ft has been transacted in the out-of-town market. The Leeds office agency team anticipates that the final full year city centre total will be in the region of 575,000 – 600,000 sq ft approximately 25% above the five year running average.
