Funny women get down to business at Fringe

Edinburgh, 21 August 2015 - Property professionals are tapping into Edinburgh's Fringe Festival spirit this month by exploring how comedy can improve working relationships and boost business acumen.  The workshop will be followed up with a fundraiser for JLL's national charity Starlight Children's Foundation and marks the official launch of the JLL Women's Network in Scotland.

Curated by Funny Women, the UK's leading female comedy community, the workshop will explore ways women can present themselves to suit today's modern business environment. Taking its lead from the ever-growing Fringe Festival, the workshop will focus on performance, passion and confidence to empower women in the workplace.

The evening entertainment will include stars from Funny Women with all proceeds from the event going to children's charity, Starlight.

Featuring award-winning stand ups from across the UK, with character and improvised comedy, this all female crew invites the female workforce of Edinburgh to "Just Laugh Lots".

Misa von Tunzelman, UK Lead Director at JLL said: "Through Funny Women's excellent workshops and events we've learned how humour and stand up skills can be used to build confidence, presence and success in business and we've had a lot of fun on the way.  I'm delighted that next week we'll be able to use those same skills to help support and bring some fun to children across the UK who are having a tough time."

Hosted by 'Red Coat Suzy', aka Suzy Bennett, winner of 2006 Funny Women Awards and features, 'Just Laugh Lots' will also feature Samantha Baines, Helen Sorren, Catherine Bohart, Sindhu Vee and Thanyia Moore, Funny Women's improvised comedy group and guest appearances from Jayde Adams, winner, 2014 Funny Women Awards and WOMANz, (Tessa Waters) winner, Most Outstanding Comedy Award, Melbourne Fringe 2014.

Lynne Parker of Funny Women said: "We are truly excited to be staging our workshop in partnership with JLL at the heart of the world's biggest arts and culture festival. Our aim is to empower women through comedy, and to give them the tools to be even more successful in the workplace.

"To be raising funds for such a worthwhile charity as Starlights makes the occasion so much more important, and we urge the public to join us for what will undoubtedly be a fun and worthwhile evening."

Neil Swan, Chief Executive of Starlight Children's Foundation said: "I am delighted that JLL and Funny Women have joined forces to stage this event in aid of Starlight. I hope everyone attending the Women's Network has fun and also learns more about the work of our charity in Scotland and across the UK."

Tickets are available now for the event on Wednesday 26 August which starts at 7.15pm and runs until 10.00pm at Venue 88. Entry is £5 with larger donations being accepted. All proceeds from the event will go to Starlight.
