JLL acquires Bluu in further expansion of Tétris design and fit-out business

Creating the UK’s largest design and fit-out provider by market share and turnover

JLL today announced the acquisition of leading UK-based design and fit-out company Bluu as part of its continuing strategic investment plan for growing its Tétris design and fit-out business. The firm now operates in 23 offices in 16 countries across Europe, the Middle East & Africa and in Brazil.

JLL acquired Tétris in 2007. Since the start, the teams have delivered over 4,000 projects for corporate, investor, retail and hotel clients. In 2014 the turnover hit $236M. The latest countries to open include South Africa and Brazil.

The combination of Bluu’s 120-strong team with the existing 30-strong Tétris UK operations will create the UK’s clear market leader.  After a transitional brand period, Bluu will move fully under the Tétris brand in 2016 with the combined teams operating from Bluu’s existing office. Today’s news follows the acquisitions of Novo Interior in Portugal last November, Neo-Świat in Poland in May, and CMM Projekt & Office Solutions GmbH in Germany.

Christian Ulbrich, CEO of JLL EMEA, said: “This is another significant step in our growth strategy for the Tétris business across EMEA, following the successful acquisitions of Novo Interior in Portugal last November and Neo-Świat in Poland in May.  Tétris continues its rapid growth trajectory as a highly complementary integral part of our broader service offering to clients across EMEA and beyond.”

Guy Grainger, JLL UK Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to welcome the 120-strong Bluu team joining with our existing Tétris business in the UK.  Both businesses share the same core commitment to client service excellence and innovative high quality approaches to design and fit-out in what is a fast-moving and rapidly evolving sector.  This is an exciting and mutually beneficial combination. Bluu brings over 15 years’ heritage and a leading position in the UK.  We believe that by joining Bluu with our international platform, we can further enhance client service and create new opportunities through linking with JLL’s broader UK and international platform.”

Robb Simms-Davies, CEO Bluu, commented: “This is the coming together of two great companies who are strategically aligned and we fully believe that both will benefit from the partnership. Bringing together our leading teams of designers, market knowledge and high quality delivery, along with Tétris’ global platform and corporate client base will ensure we are the market leaders in multi-disciplinary fit-out. This is a key moment for our business and a decisive move to take it to the next level.”

Franck Eburderie, CEO Tétris EMEA, added: “We have long admired and respected the Bluu business in the UK and I am thrilled that we can now call them colleagues.  This is a truly exciting time for our Tétris business, particularly across Europe and Africa where our strong and sustained growth is gaining fresh momentum driven by client demand and our increased capabilities and reach.”

The acquisition takes immediate effect, with the Tétris UK team set to relocate into the Bluu London offices later this year.
