Local school children dance with the stars of Cirkopolis

Thanks to the Birmingham office of JLL

BIRMINGHAM, 7th April, 2015 -  For many children it’s unlikely that they will ever be able to enjoy live theatre, let alone meet the artists themselves, however thanks to JLL's Performance Partnership with Birmingham Hippodrome, nearly 15 pupils from Baverstock Academy had the chance to dance alongside the talented artists from Cirkopolis.

The pupils, all girls aged between 12 and 14 descended upon the main stage to work with the highly acclaimed Cirque Eloize. They spent the morning split into three groups learning various different circus disciplines from how to juggle and throw the diablo; to creating a human pyramid!

Philip Farrell and Vicky Beach from the Birmingham office of JLL joined  the girls to see first-hand how rewarding the dance workshop had been for the Year 9 pupils, who were oozing with confidence when they met-up on the main stage.

Talking about the experience Philip Farrell said:

"It was fantastic to see the girls putting their newly learnt talents into practice. It was clear they were getting a lot out of the day. The Performance Partnership is an excellent initiative and helps teach some practical life skills in a creative and fun way that which will stand them in good stead for their future school work and careers."

The exciting day at the theatre continued for the Baverstock girls, with an afternoon workshop with the Hippodrome’s Creative Learning team focusing on voice projection and characterisation techniques, followed by the unique chance to watch the Show Call, which offered them a fascinating insight into the company’s preparation before curtain up.

They finished the day off by watching the evening performance of Cirkopolis thanks to JLL who generously sponsored Baverstock’s show tickets.
