JLL UK Retail comments on latest Kantar Worldpanel figures

In response to the latest Kantar Worldpanel figures on grocery market share, Tim Vallance Head of  UK Retail at JLL, commented: “For Tesco to be named as the ‘standout big 4 retailer’ in the latest Kantar results is another feather in the cap for Dave Lewis. While Aldi has posted a new record grocery market share, the interesting point is that this is the retailer’s slowest rate of growth in several years. This highlights that the pace of growth of the discount retailers is slowing, suggesting that we are on the road to a position of stalemate between them and the big four. The race for ‘convenient’ space will be the new battleground over the next year as well as increased competition over digital innovation in terms of customer service.”
