JLL Bristol takes to the saddle for Teenage Cancer Trust

Ten-strong team will cycle 275 miles to Paris in memory of colleague Jodie Bewley

Bristol, 4 February 2015 – A team of surveyors from JLL’s Bristol office will soon be undertaking a gruelling 275-mile bike ride to Paris to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.

On 25 February, the ten-strong team will take to the saddle in memory of colleague Jodie Bewley who lost her battle with cancer in November 2014.

The first leg of the journey will see the team cycle from Bristol to Portsmouth, before taking the ferry overnight to Caen. They will then continue on to Paris, covering around 275 miles in just three days.

Giles Weir, a director at JLL in Bristol and leader of the challenge, said: “Sadly, we lost one of our colleagues to cancer last year so it was a no-brainer that we chose to raise money for the charity that supported her.

“Many more of our colleagues and their relatives have been affected by this horrible disease so we hope to raise as much money as we can for this great cause. We’re asking people to dig deep and help us reach our target; every penny counts!”

The team, which is made up of Giles Weir, Allistair Donovan, Andrew Sproson, Chris Miles, James Bromme, Ross Wigley, Alastair Kimpton, Ricky Jones, David Smith and Phil Schmid, as well as two support cyclists, are hoping to raise £7,000 between them.

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. Ms Bewley was treated at the specialist Teenage Cancer Trust unit, funded by the charity at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.

Laura Perrett from the charity, said: “We are so pleased that JLL has chosen Teenage Cancer Trust as their charity of the year and have pledged to raise so much money to help support our work. Every penny we receive is vital and goes towards ensuring young people across the region get access to the specialist care and support they need.”

So far the team has raised more than £4,900, for Teenage Cancer Trust, including a donation from law firm, TLT.
