Malmaison books a room with a view at 54 Hagley Road

Birmingham, 27 November 2014 - In a vote of confidence for Birmingham, Malmaison & Hotel du Vin Hotels has chosen to consolidate its office operations at 54 Hagley Road, the iconic office building on the Edgbaston skyline. The boutique hotel chain has taken 3,541 sq ft (329 sq m) on the fourteenth floor of 54, giving their staff glorious open views over the city to the surrounding hills.

Malmaison & Hotel du Vin previously occupied offices in both Manchester and Birmingham, but wanted to bring staff together into one location that also offered space for future expansion.

“Our business is expanding rapidly in today’s favourable economic climate – we have opened two hotels in 2014, with more on the immediate horizon. As we were fast outgrowing our existing space, we took the decision to operate our reservations, meetings and events, revenue management and distribution teams from one location. Birmingham was a clear choice as it has a great talent pool and 54 Hagley Road offered a commercially efficient, high specification, flexible office space. Edgbaston also boasts excellent transport links locally, nationally and internationally,” explains Rob Paterson, Director of Revenue and Distribution for the group.

54 Hagley Road is a high quality, landmark office building with a fully glazed reception area which gives occupiers and visitors an immediate impression of space and light. 54 is in an established business location and offers Grade A accommodation with extensive car parking on site. The useful local amenities are important to staff – from the on-site café to the two supermarkets nearby, plus the restaurants and cafes within a few minutes’ walking distance. 54 is very accessible by bus, train and car: the M5 is just three miles away and the M6 very close to the east.

“Widely regarded as the best office space currently available in Edgbaston, space at 54 is attracting a great deal of attention since the recent £17M refurbishment. Rents are competitive and some space is under offer, but we can still accommodate a range of occupiers with suites from 1,350 sq ft up to 35,000 sq ft,” comments Jonathan Carmalt, Director of Office Agency at JLL in Birmingham, one of the joint agents for 54.
