Swapping suits for overalls

Nottingham office volunteering day at Robin Hood School

Nottingham Volunteering DayNOTTINGHAM, 29th October, 2014 - 40 professionals from Nottingham business community swapped their suits for overalls on an annual Volunteering Day held jointly between Barclays and the local office of global real estate advisor, JLL.

Leading names such as Gateleys, Browne Jacobson, Geldards and Freeths turned out to help redecorate part of the Robin Hood Primary School in Bestwood Park, which is located in one of the most deprived areas of the city.

Andrew Sharpe, headmaster at the Robin Hood school said: "I would like to say a massive thank you to Barclays and JLL. It was great to have so many people giving up their time to come and support the work of the School.

"They all worked incredibly hard and did far more than we expected which has obviously saved the school a lot of time and money. I cannot recommend these schemes highly enough and I am sure the volunteers gained a lot from the experience."

Andrew continued: "Over the course of the day, three rooms and a corridor were completely repainted; a new wood land area was planted; many garden areas were weeded and pruned and an area was cleared ready for our new ‘welcome’ garden."

Jenny Walkerdine from JLL who organised the day said: "They say charity work is good for the soul and I think everyone who took part in this initiative will agree they came away feeling hugely satisfied with the impact we were able to make at the school.

"Last year we helped Ecoworks in St Anns and got such excellent feedback we have decided to make this an annual event.  A big thanks goes out to everyone who turned up on the day and really got stuck in and made the event so rewarding."
