JLL advise on European debut of Japanese Ramen restaurant Ippudo

Flagship European restaurant to open in London’s High Holborn

JLL has advised on the European debut of Japanese Ramen restaurant Ippudo. The first flagship restaurant is due to open in Central St Giles, High Holborn on the 10th October 2014.

The 80 cover restaurant will be split over a ground floor and mezzanine level and afford outdoor space for al-fresco dining where customers will enjoy an authentic menu of Hakata-style (tonkotsu pork broth base) ramen. The restaurant will serve signature dishes such as Shiromaru Classic and Akamaru Modern which have helped Ippudo become one of the most popular ramen restaurants in Japan, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong and Manhattan.

Oliver Marcroft, senior surveyor in the London Retail team which advised Ippudo on its High Holborn location said: “Ippudo has chosen London because of its reputation as a magnet for culinary diversity. Holborn is a perfect location as a first store in Europe, located in an area where consumers expect to find a wide range of international cuisine.”

Ian Liddle, associate director in the London Project Management team which managed the project from implementation to completion added: “The main challenge with this project was translating our Japanese client’s vision for the restaurant using a range of high-end finishes and imported features including Taiko drums, hardwoods and handmade ceramic wall tiles.  The project took 15 weeks on site to complete and we are incredibly happy with the results.  It has been great watching the restaurant take shape and we’re excited that Ippudo is here to offer the Capital some of the best Japanese ramen noodles around.”
