JLL’s Cardiff office to offer full planning service

Senior planning consultant to transfer to Welsh office

CARDIFF, 4 July 2014 – Leading property consultancy JLL is setting up a Cardiff planning operation to offer regionally specific planning expertise, following the transfer of a senior consultant from the company’s West End office.

Kathryn Williams, who is originally from Cardiff, has spent nine years working in London and the South East after joining JLL in 2008 as a planner.

While in London, Kathryn’s clients included the Ministry of Justice, Selfridges Retail Limited and Albyns Limited, a luxury property development firm where she was responsible for basement developments in Kensington and Chelsea.

Kathryn will lead JLL Cardiff’s new planning consultancy service, working on an assortment of projects for clients such as Renaissance Retirement, LaSalle Investment Management and the Ministry of Justice. Day to day responsibilities will include general planning advice, project management, strategy advice, planning appraisals and public consultations.

Talking about her move to the Cardiff office, Kathryn said: “This move means a lot to me personally, bringing me back home to my family and roots. It is also a very exciting and challenging opportunity for me to meet new clients and deliver schemes that boost housing numbers and generate jobs for the local people.

“The Welsh planning system is under full scrutiny and review in order to make the whole process quicker and simpler. I hope to have some input into this and deliver successful results for my clients.”
Prior to joining JLL, Kathryn – who has an MA in Planning, Policy and Practice from Southbank University -  worked as a planning assistant at Woking Borough Council before a three year post at Cluttons LLP as a graduate planner.
Chris Sutton, head of the Cardiff office, said: “Changes to planning policy that should lead to a more attractive planning regime in Wales by 2016 meant that we needed to invest in this area of property consultancy.
“Kathryn has significant experience and an impressive track record so will be a very welcome addition to the Cardiff team where until now, our planning operation has been supported by the Bristol office. We aim to support Kathryn with further recruitment in due course.”
Kathryn is a full member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
