JLL appointed by RICS Scotland on new HQ fit-out

Chartered Surveyor body to move to new Edinburgh base

GLASGOW, 24 April 2014 – An award-winning team led by JLL’s Building Consultancy has been awarded the prestigious fit-out of RICS Scotland’s new Edinburgh HQ.

RICS, the professional body for Chartered Surveyors, will move from their historic base in Manor Place to a new location taking the 6,115 sq ft third floor office suite of 125 Princes Street.

The move will see a departure from the traditional townhouse premises to an open plan office layout with aspirations to deliver an inspirational HQ for RICS Scotland setting exceptional standards for the 21st Century.

Over 30 expressions of interest were received by RICS from member firms in the competitive tendering exercise with design and quality being key drivers for the project.

The JLL-led design team comprises Michael Laird Architects and KJ Tait Consulting Engineers, with this team having recently won a Scottish BCO Award for their BREEAM ‘Excellent’ office fit-out project on behalf of the UK Green Investment Bank at Edinburgh’s Atria One.

Niall Robertson, Associate Director of JLL’s Building Consultancy, commented: “We are delighted to have been appointed by our colleagues at RICS Scotland for the fit-out of their new headquarters.

“We look forward to delivering a modern and sustainable workplace which will offer stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street Gardens from flexible new conference facilities.”
Sarah Speirs, Director of RICS Scotland, said: “Following an extensive tendering and interview process, we were delighted to appoint JLL and Michael Laird Architects. We firmly believe that their combined expertise will help us deliver a truly transformational staff and member space at our new Scottish HQ.”
