Green Investment Bank recognised for Excellence

The UK Green Investment Bank's headquarters at Atria One, Edinburgh has been recognised for excellence in office space at the annual British Council for Offices (BCO) Scottish property awards sector, thanks to the contribution of a project team led by JLL.

JLL's building consultancy team acted as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor and joint Brief Consultant for the sustainable fit-out of the Grade A office space in the heart of the city's financial district.

The BCO Awards recognise best practice in high quality office design and workplace functionality. More than 280 of Scotland's best developers, architects and occupiers were present at the ceremony at Glasgow's Grand Central Hotel on 4 April.

GIB and the fit-out project team were awarded for the creation of flexible and sustainable workspace in the category for projects up to 2,000m2. The judges commented that the team had created a positive and inspirational environment for occupiers at Atria One, having combined branding, colour and technology with spectacular panoramic views of the dramatic Edinburgh skyline.

Members of the project team included Michael Laird Architects, KJ Tait Engineers, and GHI Contracts, as well as Green Investment Bank and JLL.

Ken Frew, Director, for JLL, said: "This award is fantastic recognition of the project team's achievement and testament to JLL's sustainability credentials. As one of only two office fit out projects in the UK chosen to participate in the BREEAM Non-domestic Refurbishment 2014 pilot scheme, we're pleased to have been able to reflect the core values of the world's first 'green' bank in creating a truly sustainable workplace."

The project will now be taken forwards to compete at national level, and join the bid to receive BCO's Best of the Best Award later this year.
