JLL launches development investment opportunity with consent for 2,500 homes

A premier community growth area in Bishopton, Glasgow

MIPIM, 11th March 2014 - JLL is launching Scotland’s premier community growth area in Bishopton, Glasgow exclusively at MIPIM. 

Bishopton, a former Royal Ordnance site, consists of 230.3 Ha (569 acres) of development land with planning consent for 2,500 residential units, sustainable ancillary community and employment land uses.
The initial phase of the development known as Dargavel Village has established itself within the market place and demand for serviced land from house builders, based on the sales track record of the 3 house builders on site at present, is strong. The remaining land within the core development area which extends to 230.3 Ha (569 acres) gross, is now being offered as a development investment opportunity.
Located on the west coast of Scotland within the central belt,10 miles west/north west of Glasgow, Bishopton is a popular commuter village situated within the affluent Renfrewshire suburbs. The village enjoys an attractive and rural setting, whilst being strategically well located benefiting from excellent connectivity.  It is positioned close to the M8 motorway (a dedicated new motorway junction will be introduced as part of the development), allowing easy reach of Glasgow City Centre within 25 minutes and access to the wider motorway network beyond.  Bishopton has its own main line train station providing direct train services into Glasgow Central Station (20 minutes journey time), and Glasgow International Airport can be reached within 10 minutes’ drive.  
The village is already well served by local shopping facilities, primary schools and sports/recreational facilities. Attractions within close proximity include Mar Lodge, Erskine Leisure Centre, the Ingliston Country Club and Equestrian Centre, Braehead Shopping Centre and Intu Braehead Leisure (formerly known as Xscape) including real snow slopes, bowling, cinema, shops, bars and restaurants.
The Dargavel Village development will enhance the offering even further with plans for a new school, library, community centre, leisure facilities, retail and woodland park.
