RDAS appoints new Chairman from Jones Land LaSalle

Simon Hodson, Head of Residential Land steps into the position

London, 19th February 2014 - Jones Lang LaSalle announces that Simon Hodson, head of the Residential Land team in London has been appointed as Chairman of RDAS (Residential Development Agents Society). Simon replaces Crispin Topping of BNP Paribas who has held the voluntary position for the past 8 years.

RDAS has 290 members, comprising agents whose principal business is in the acquisition and disposal of development land and property for residential purposes and exists as a forum for the exchange of information and ideas between agents involved in this sector.

Commenting on the appointment, Simon Hodson said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Chairman of RDAS and aim to continue to promote the importance of residential development in place-making, as well as an asset class in its own right in a rapidly changing world where affordability and under supply is utmost in central and local government.

An objective going forward will be to continue to promote the residential sector to newly qualified surveyors and non-cognate graduates to consider property as an exciting and fast moving career option.”

Crispin Topping commented:  “I have greatly enjoyed my time as Chairman but now is the time to pass the baton and I am sure that Simon will do a fantastic job taking the Society forward to greater things.”

RDAS was established in 1995 and the Society currently has approximately 290 members from around 80 firms. The majority of members are located in the South East of England/East Anglia, but with increasing representation from the South, South West and Midlands. Membership is open to agents whose principal business is in the acquisition and disposal of development land and property for residential purposes.

The income from membership subscriptions and events is principally used in support of RDAS CPD and social programmes. RDAS does, however, also support a nominated charity on an annual basis and to date over £200,000 has been donated to a variety of good causes with a housing connection.
