Edinburgh, 13 January 2013 - SKYCIG, a leading UK electronic cigarette brand, has secured a five year lease for premises at Clifton Trading Estate in Newbridge to support the operation of its expanding business. Unit C2 Clifton Trading Estate.jpg

The company has agreed a deal with a fund of CBRE Global Investors, for the lease of Unit C2, a mid-terraced unit on the estate. The refurbished property comprises 10,538 sq ft along with an extensive shared yard and car parking space.

SKYCIG was recently acquired by Lorillard Inc., the third largest manufacturer of cigarettes in the USA, in a deal worth £60 million.  The company already employs 35 staff at its customer service and digital services team in its Broughton Street Lane office in Edinburgh. However, staffing is expected to increase in the next six months, as the company gears up its offering to European markets. The newly acquired unit at Clifton Trading estate will be used for storage and distribution of the products to both online and offline UK markets.

Clifton Trading Estate, part of Newbridge Industrial Estate, lies at the intersection of Scotland’s major motorway networks, the M8 and M9, on the outskirts of Scotland’s capital. Other occupiers on the estate include Howdens Joinery, APC Overnight and Plumb Centre.

Jones Lang LaSalle acted on behalf of SKYCIG. CBRE Global Investors was represented by Alan Herriot of Ryden.

Douglas Mutter, Operations Manager at SKYCIG, commented: “Clifton Trading Estate provides an excellent base from which SKYCIG can expand its operations in Scotland. With a growing workforce in Edinburgh, and a commitment to expand the business within the UK and Europe, the estate will play a key role in our future growth plans.”

Kirsty Palmer, Associate Director, Industrial and Logistics, for Jones Lang LaSalle, commented: “Clifton Trading Estate is an excellent storage and distribution location for a growing business such as SKYCIG, supporting its office operations in Edinburgh. With high quality affordable accommodation and excellent road links to Scotland’s major cities and the rest of the UK, Clifton Trading Estate ticks many of the right boxes for businesses with industrial and trading requirements.”
