JLL’s Humphery takes helm at Scottish Property Federation

Edinburgh, 20 November 2013Alasdair Humphery, Lead Director for Jones Lang LaSalle in Scotland, has assumed Chairmanship of the Scottish Property Federation (SPF) for 2014, taking over from Jestyn Davies, managing director of Murray Estates.

Topics of focus for the SPF next year will include the issue of business rates revaluation, and the introduction of the Land and Buildings Transaction Tax, which replaces stamp duty in April 2015.

Commenting on his role Alasdair said: “2014 is shaping up to be a busy year for the Scottish property market, both in terms of industry activity and the broader policy environment. Whilst we’ve seen some consistent signs of recovery in commercial property and house building, we need to ensure that new policies and legislation don’t have an adverse impact on the industry and its recovery into next year. I’ll be focused on ensuring that our members’ interests are best represented amongst Scotland’s policy makers, creating a thriving market for the industry to prosper and attract investment.”

Alasdair is the first chairman of the organisation to be appointed from the property services sector.
